Refunded too much money on my credit card, can I keep it?

December 17th, 2009
CBusT asked:

In a recent transaction where I was paying by credit card I was overcharged by the vendor. She realized it on the spot and refunded the money. However, when I reviewed my credit card statement I found that they’d issued two additional refunds to me which amount to several thousand dollars. This is all in excess of the amount the needed to refund to me. What am I supposed to do? What is my obligation? Can I just sit tight until the company figures out its mistake?

Credit card holders unite. How much is your CC company charging you for your balance?

December 14th, 2009
Rev Debi Brady asked:

I am a good payer on my CC’s. Yes, I have fairly high balances, but that’s because every time I think I’m making some headway on the balances, these ‘guys’ raise the interest rates. At least two of my higher balance cards have increased their rates…by A LOT…in the last year! I’m making it my mission to expose these companies for what they are money-hungry card-sharks!

Please join my crusade…I’m started by taking a survey of rates and companies…

My next step is to compile a list of all these companies and their USURY rates (see for background). As a writer, researcher and honorably-discharged Air Force Officer, I will be creating a campaign to take back our rights to fair credit treatment. Are you with me?!?
Thanks to these responses…I am well-aware that no one stuffed a CC down my throat unwillingly…I bit down and chewed! No I don’t think ANOTHER CC is the answer (been-there-done-that), but I am among millions who are carrying a balance. I pay more than the minimum, but not enough to offset the ever-increasing interest charges.
Ahh, yes…my house is filled with useless stuff that I owe money on…NOT! I have over-extended my credit, but that does not extend the abuse to companies by charging over 24% (currently the max allowed in the U.S.) with our govt’s blessing…hmmm, seems a little bit fishy…

Is there any reason why a man would REFUSE to carry a wallet?

Is it really more convenient to carry credit cards, money, ID and the like loosley or in a $ clip?I’ve seen this a few times and and suspicious of this behaviour. It seems to me like they are trying to hide something about themselves.

How do you like my idea of giving up green card without having to lose money?

November 27th, 2009
XY asked:

I am a green card holder and I plan to return to India in the next 3 months (and stay there permanently). As such, I think I will have to give up my green cards. However, I don’t want to pay up a huge sum on taxes which applies on voluntarily giving up green card… after all I already paid tax on the money honestly and I don’t think it is logical I should be taxed again (which means a total tax rate of 35%(already paid)+35%(on giving up green card) =70% in taxes… is that fair?)

So here is my plan… I go to India, move my money back and then come back to the US more than a year later. I think they take away your green card if you stay away from the US for so long and they can deny me at the port of entry…take my GC and I can go home. That way, I can save hundreds of thousands in taxes by spending…say abt $2000. I know it sounds a little crazy…to get voluntarily denied entry and get deported…but is it such a crazy idea after all?

I’m a green card holder facing a foreclosure, would that affect my chance to sponsor my spouse to the USA?

November 03rd, 2009
kat asked:

I’m a green card holder. I own a house with my ex husband. Now I’m remarried but my spouse still lives in asia. I can’t live any longer with my ex, but neither of us can afford to pay the morgage alone, Should I do forclosure so that we can live separately? by doing so I can have a little money to put on my saving.? but would that affect my ability to sponsor my new husband to come to the USA? I’m so confuse with my future live. I ‘m actually a very talented cake decorator who used to have a very high goal and very focus on pursuing my dream. I also have a very good job but the divorce and financial issue has destroyed all my plan. Should I just start over everything with my new husband in my home country or should I stay here and try to bring him here eventhough the process will take years? Any answer would be very appreciated. thank you so much for reading my case.

Do I lose my money on a credit card repayment agreement?

October 22nd, 2009
fratdaddy1987 asked:

I owed Capital One credit card services $600.00. They hire a collection agency to make the collection. We agreed on 400.00 in two payments that i was to make. I paid the first 200.00 but missed the next 200.00. Now they said I have to pay the full 600.00 and they will not give me credit for the 200.00 I paid previously. Do I really lose that money because I “broke the agreement”? Or is there any protection that I can use? Please help!
